A Deeper Look

Let me be completely honest: I had zero desire to produce this post. Even now, as I write it, I’m praying for some secret out to relieve me of this onerous task. I wish I could shirk my self-assigned duties as a lip balm aficionado so that I could spare myself from wasting these precious seconds talking about something I despised from the moment payment was exchanged for goods (in this case, a deeply-discounted multi-pack of Burt’s).

But here we are, so let’s be done with it.

I have no idea why this product appears on countless lists as one of the Top Ten Lip Balms to Quench Your Lip Thirst (or something to that effect). I have no idea why it is stocked, in numerous sizes and varieties, at every single checkout counter from Target to The Home Depot and every other retailer in between. I definitely don’t know why you, currently reading this blog, could probably fish one of these out of your backpack right now if asked to. (Seriously, there’s a whole section of Pritha’s Picks. Try one of those! I beg you.)

In summary, I find this lip balm (the original, its flavored varieties and even its tinted formulas) to be repulsive in taste and smell. It’s effective, sure, but trying to overcome my reflexive disgust at the slightest twist of the cap renders its single saving grace irrelevant. I would be hard-pressed to pay $3 for the burden of having to use Burt’s Bees to hydrate my lips (I would be hard-pressed to BE PAID $3 to use it).

I would rather let them be chapped (gasp!).

Important: Contains Beeswax (duh), Cruelty-Free, Sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free
